Tavia Yeung who did a lot of bad deeds to harm peoples in new series turned into Kam Ling yesterday. She led the reporters to drive through the red traffic lights and willing to pay for HK$600 penalization and receive deduction of 5 marks. When mentioned about the rumours that there are internal arrangements that TVB wants to give the awards to good sister, Charmaine Sheh, Tavia Yeung expressed that she will not feel disappointed. Tavia : Actually it was much more happier than expected. But the pressures were high too. It was very hard. Last time I wanted to try out on villain role was because I wanted a breakthrough in the roles that I portray. However, this time when I accepted this role then only I found out it was not as easy as expected and not only emphasized on the eyes expressions only but also the inner evilness.
Cha Siu Yan : Then how producer Mui Siu Ching brainwashed you?
Tavia : At first when I started filming, I actually did not let go enough of myself. Our filming did not follow sequences. Therefore sometimes Siu Ching Je would comment that I was not evil enough in some of the scenes. She asked me to let go myself. She asked me to remember that I was a wicked person in not of my own volition and being forced to do that. She kept on telling me to let go myself. This was how she brainwashed me. Whenever we finished filming and we watched the playback, I would ask her whether she was satisfied or not with my performance or anything that I needed to improve.
Cha Siu Yan : So fast you asked her?
Tavia : Of course I had to ask immediately! Hahaha ~
Cha Siu Yan : So do you feel that a person if is evil then must evil to the extent? Just like Imperial Concubine Lai?
Tavia : Yes! I’m referring about the series but not in real life. If you want to fight for something, then you must do everything and never limit yourself. Of course there were changes and I was not evil from the start. I was a good person at the beginning.
Cha Siu Yan : After that, you were bullied by other peoples right?
Tavia : Yes and this was forced by peoples. So I must let go myself and did everything to the extent.
Cha Siu Yan : How similar this situation if compares with your real life? Did you meet before the situation whereby you were forced by other peoples?
Tavia : I didn’t meet before. Yiu Kam Ling and my real life are totally 2 different persons. Nothing is similar. The only similar thing is……

You were from a good palace maid who always bullied by peoples until a wicked Imperial Concubine Lai. Did you discuss the funny roles that both of you portrayed with Moses?
Tavia : We always played with each other during filming. We always have sparkles in our collaboration. He was a funny but a gentleman Emperor. He gave me a lot of opinions during filming. For example, he would tell me it would be better not to do like this after some scenes. He felt that I could go even further in some of the scenes. This was because sometimes I would forget my position when I filmed and he would advise me secretly. After that, I would ask for another take from the director.
Cha Siu Yan : Hahaha then you said Moses asked for another take! Hahahaha.
Tavia : Hahahaha!
Cha Siu Yan : Would you advise Moses instead?
Tavia : I didn’t do that often! Maybe because he was an Emperor in the series and he would not have big changes in his expressions. He always needed to be strict and well-mannered. He could grasp his role well so I didn’t have to give him more advices.

Tavia : Yes. I felt compatible with him in Beyond The Realm Of Conscience.

Tavia : Oh no. My new series is with Myolie, Chi Lam, Michael Tse and Damien Lau.
Cha Siu Yan : There are a lot of senior actors and actresses in [Beyond]. I think you are used to collaborating with the senior right? Like Louise Lee, Suzanna Kwan etc. But do you feel there are too many senior in this series?
Tavia : For me, not many. I’m happy that the audiences commented that every casts in this series have good acting skills. I feel that casts with strong acting ability will bring the feel to the series. If let’s say there is someone that doesn’t know how to act in this series, audiences will definitely feel the comparison. But luckily this series does not have this type of situation. Every casts are great.
Cha Siu Yan : I talked to Wai Ying Hong that day. She said that she always reached studio earlier than usual to set hair and makeup. But whenever she reached there, she was only the 4th person that reached there.
Tavia : A lot of peoples reached earlier unexpectedly. Everyone was punctual for this series and everyone did their job well and we would try to reach earlier to makeup.
Cha Siu Yan : So you were in which position to reach there?
Tavia : Sometimes I was lazy and would be slightly late. Hahaha.
Cha Siu Yan : But yours were not late. You were definitely punctual!
Tavia : Ya but I would enter the studio punctually. Maybe sometimes I was not punctual for makeup but I would be punctual when I entered studio. This was because our styles were different. Let’s say the makeup and hair setting time was 2 hours. But sometimes I just needed to use 1 hour to makeup and set hair.
Cha Siu Yan : 1 hour could finish everything?
Tavia : There were different stages. It was enough to use 1 hour for palace maid styles. So I would adjust my own time and gave more rest for myself.

Cha Siu Yan : Means that when you all filmed [Beyond] that time and she watched your scenes?
Tavia : Yes, she would send messages to me and now during the airing of [Beyond], she knew that I would be under pressures so she would send long text messages to give encouragements to me.
Cha Siu Yan : Do you know that you have 2 good friends that support you very much? Moses and Steven Ma support you.
Tavia : Really?
Cha Siu Yan : Yes, since Steven Ma treats you like his little sister.

Cha Siu Yan : It has been 10 years since you entered TVB Training Class. How do you feel about your 10 years youth?
Tavia : I’m 30 years old this year! I admit it myself! Hahaha. I think I need to dress up like young girls. Hahahahaha.
Cha Siu Yan : Have you celebrated your 30th birthday?
Tavia : Yes.
Cha Siu Yan : So, what was your wish that time?
Tavia : I remember that I didn’t cut the cakes!

Tavia : I think cannot say like this. It might not be a good thing if I was given villain roles a few years ago. This is because I need to build up my own base first in the eyes of audiences to let them feel that I can do that. If I was given the roles much earlier, maybe I couldn’t do it. Maybe I was still childish at that time and couldn’t portray the role well.
Cha Siu Yan : Speak good words, do good deeds and show good wills. Which one of you is not good enough?
Tavia : I may not speak good words. The range is broad to speak good words. Sometimes speak good words can leads to ingratiation and becomes fake words.
Cha Siu Yan : So you will show good wills?
Tavia : Yes and I will do good deeds. Of course I will do bad deeds too like when I’m lazy and do not want to go anywhere and ends up telling lies. Hahahaha. I admit that I’m not a “Sam Ho”. Nobody is “Sam Ho” as it is very hard to become a “Sam Ho”.

Tavia Yeung expressed that she kept on comfort herself during filming. In this way, she could let go herself to portray the role well. She said, “That time I was full of pressures from many aspects. After I finished filming this series, then only I know that someone will suffer from diarrhea due to pressures. Now only I know there is such illness as I suffered from diarrhea everyday due to pressures that time. Moreover, I was thinking about the level of evilness that I should present. I was afraid of over-evilness. After that, producer and a lot of seniors taught me not to think too much and not to have too much hesitation.”
However Tavia Yeung expressed that even if she exchanges the role with Charmaine Sheh, she will experience the same pressures too. “There are also high difficulties in portraying Ah Sheh’s role. It is just the inner acting between us that is different. Although this is the first time I portrayed a villain role, but I give myself 70 marks. I will not give myself too high marks because there is no 100% in acting field. If I have 100%, then I do not have to work anymore. Nothing is 100% as every artiste will have their own spaces for improvements.”
When asked about her confidence on this year’s Best Actress, she said, “The responses from audiences are good for my villain role. I’m very happy indeed. Of course everyone wants to win awards. However, these things are not under my control and the competitors are too strong. As long as the role gains recognition from everyone, I feel that I have already won.”
Do not dare to fight with Sheren Tang
When mentioned that strong competitor, Sheren Tang who is not TVB’s biological daughter and will lead to higher chances of Tavia Yeung to receive award, she said, “Awards are decided by audiences. TVB will listen to audiences’ opinions. Moreover, I don’t dare to fight with Sheren Tang. She really did well in her role and I’m also one of her audiences.”
Although she doesn’t dare to fight the award with Sheren Tang, but another competitor Kenix Kwok was rumoured to ex-change contracts with awards. Tavia Yeung said, “If Kenix can win the award this year, then it is double happiness. She really has her own acting capabilities.”
Hair ornaments too heavy, neck and shoulder red and swollen
The ratings for [Beyond] keep increasing. Although the casts are happy, at the same time they are facing pressures too. Although Tavia Yeung received praises on her acting skills, but there were netizens that criticized on her evilness during the beginning of the series. Tavia Yeung said, “The story of the series will develops slowly and I will not turn evil from the beginning. Only like this then there will be contrast.
Put efforts in memorizing classical Chinese dialogues
Tavia Yeung expressed that she put a lot of efforts in this series. “Actually a lot of dialogues were using classical Chinese word. Therefore, I put more efforts into memorizing the dialogues. Moreover, there were a lot of seniors in this series and led to motivation to myself to do even better. I really want to thank company and producer that gave this chance to me and I finally can see another side of myself.”
Other than tests on acting skills, actually the costumes from the series also gave challenges to Tavia Yeung. She said, “This was the heaviest style that I did before after entered this industry. I needed at least 2 hours to set hair and makeup. The hair and hair ornaments were so heavy. Sometimes my neck and shoulder became swollen. Although the hair ornaments were heavy, but the evilness feel immediately appeared when I put on that. This is because I’m too active and always jumping around in real person. I became much steadier and mature after I put on the hair ornaments.”
Tavia Yeung is a different TVB Fa Dan. In 1999, she entered this industry through acting training class and worked for 10 years until now. However, Tavia who produces at least 3 to 4 series per year and always appears on tv and magazines still loses out to [Gossips Ms HK] Kate Tsui who entered this field later than her and even Vivian Yeo who does not have much series but circulated by rumours with the male artistes.
“Actually I do not like to do interviews. I don’t know how to talk and afraid that I talk wrongly as I do not want to offend anyone. I rather film series overnight than to shoot photos and answer questions….” However, Tavia reached punctually today and concentrated on shooting photos. Only when the interview session reached, I saw that she spent efforts in thinking answers and kept on looking at the watch. “Actually, it is easier for me to do photo shooting now. I know how to stick tape when I wear revealing garments. I remember when I filmed slimming commercial for the first time, I used tape to stick around the bra. At the end, when I peeled off the tape, my skin was peeled off at the same time. It was so painful at that time. That time I was thinking, why did I have to shoot this?” Yes. That time Tavia Yeung did not take short cut, never entered beauty pageant and entered training class instead. The reason was she did not want to wear swimming suit and stood in front of peoples.
“However, the happiest thing is I can tell my mother [You don’t have to work. I can support your life!] Tavia Yeung, being in this field, just wants to be filial towards her mother and protect her mother’s life.
Regarding the Best Actress Awards in TVB Anniversary Awards this year, everyone adds marks for Tavia Yeung’s performance in Beyond The Realm Of Conscience. Big trouble if audiences are not satisfied
The news regarding the fighting for Best Actress will appear every day. Tavia Yeung who is down to earth all these while, is regarded as hot favourite and is chosen by high management as she is [biological contracted daughter]! No matter Tavia accepted interview in front of tv or talked to me today, she couldn’t cover up her happiness but there were struggling in her speaking tone. After all, she entered this field for 10 years and had seen all sorts of happenings and attitudes. Seeing that Sheren Tang went back with empty hand although being nominated for many years, a lot of audiences will feel not worthy for her. However when Gigi Lai received Best Actress Award, she was criticized by peoples. No wonder the Tavia Yeung today is fearful in her every steps. “About the fighting for Best Actress Award, I do not feel especially nervous. However, I feel very nervous regarding my performance in the series! Every day I will go home and ask my mother how is my performance inside the series? However, I’m her daughter. Of course she will say good so I think it will be better to ask my friends.”
“During the filming, the pressures were high. I kept on eat to reduce pressure and I turned fat after that! Luckily the ancient costumes were looser and I immediately started to lose weight after finished filming. I admit that I’m afraid that my performance is not good enough and awards are not so important for me instead. Of course, I want to win but what if the audiences are not satisfied with it? I’m not praising other peoples and look down on myself. I can act but I need time to grasp. I hope that after my first step, I can walk even further in my second step. Steady and stable towards success. I have the same thinking when I entered this field last time.“
Sexiness from brain washing
Talked about her background, Tavia Yeung is similar to other artistes and grew up in housing estate and entered this field by chance. She stayed in Shatin Village when she was still small. Her father passed away when she was 2 years old. Her mother re-married when she was 7 years old. Her stepfather has a daughter of his own. Added with her biological sister Griselda Yeung, five of them got along with each other well. In 2005, her step father was seriously ill. Tavia Yeung who was filming in China took a few days leave to go back Hong Kong to meet her step father for the last time.
Her background story is not as pitiful as expected but is ordinary instead. She expressed that she did not have the talent of performing since small and did not enter any singing competition before. During acting competition, the most she did was shooting photos and dreamt of becoming a model but using the most old-fashioned story. Tavia accompanied her friend to register for acting training class and at the end, she entered TVB until today.
“After I entered this industry, I found out that other than filming series, I need to shoot photo and do interview! At first I didn’t really know how to make pose and not used to wearing sexy garments. I remember that my manager told me once [You don’t want to wear sleeveless shirt and short skirt. You expect the magazines and newspapers company to borrow what type of clothes for you?] That time, I told her if that was the case, I could skip the shooting! Maybe because I still had baby fat at that time and lacked of confidence. Until a few years back, when I filmed Dicey Business and needed to portray a girl with big chest. I needed to throw out all my own personalities and learnt to seduce peoples with my eyes and body. That time the producer told me that I must get used to peoples staring at my chest and then only I could act naturally!”
“Therefore, I kept on brain wash myself. I also tanned my body. The feelings were like a layer and protective coloration added to me. Slowly, I could accept my new healthy sexy image. First time wore Deep V gown on stage and everyone was indeed surprised over it. There were more cameras shooting my photos.”
In 1999, Tavia Yeung just entered this industry and not long after that, she took part in Steven Ma and band group, ZEN’s MV as female lead. That time she was just 20 years old and appeared fresh and pure. The secondary school girl image suited her well.
During TVB Anniversary 2005, Tavia Yeung who rejected sexiness all these while at last made up her mind to buy the low chest gown. After she wore the gown, the camera lights flashed non-stop and everyone found out that she actually had nice body figure too.
During the TVB Lighting Ceremony in the past 2 years, [biological daughter] Tavia Yeung were only standing at the 2nd or 3rd row. This year, due to the popularity of [Beyond], Tavia Yeung was promoted heavily and stood at the front row and near to Uncle Six.
Why earn this money?
A person needs courage to open up their own mind. Maybe it is excitement. Being in entertainment circles, she saw those that entered this field around the same time as her like Myolie Wu and Bernice Liu that used Ah Jie and sexiness to gain position and high exposures, acted in one series after another, and bought cars and houses. As for Yeung’s 2 sisters, her sister Griselda Yeung entered this field through beauty pageant but her developments were average. Her sister, Tavia Yeung worked hard and willing to suffer and at least settled at second line Fa Dan. If they want to give a comfortable life for their family, the responsibility will definitely drops on Tavia’s shoulder.
Because of that, Tavia Yeung who did not want to wear swimming suit to enter beauty pageant, finally overcame her mind barrier in the past few years and filmed sexy slimming commercial to earn real money. Of course she needed to suffer in the process.
“Now I know how to separate the tapes to stick. But the first time when I filmed slimming commercial, I was afraid of exposing myself. I wrapped the tapes around my chest. After I filmed 10 hours for the commercial, I rushed to film The Academy. When I finished work and returned home, I found out the tape was sticky towards my skin and the wound was red and swollen. There were blisters too. It was very painful that time. That part really contained tears of blood. All these while, I’m someone that only likes filming and rather jumps down from the cliff than to appear sexy. Therefore, I kept on ask myself why I had to film that? Why I had to earn that money? The wound on my chest left a scar there and I used up almost a few years for the scar to be removed completely. Slowly after that, I’ve figured it out. Since everyone likes to see sexy photos, then moderate sexiness is still acceptable for me.”
I’m not lucky
Using a few years time and overcame the barrier to appear sexy, her efforts turned into an apartment unit at Tseung Kwan O. She finally could give her mother a comfortable life. Her next target is to change a bigger house so that her family can stay more comfortably. However, Tavia expressed that it is not easy to earn money using her own efforts. “All these while, I do not know how to mix in a group. Actually, I feel that Ms Catherine Tsang and Ms Virginia Lok treat me very well. They gave me a lot of chances. But I’m a boring person. Sometimes when a group of peoples having dinner with Ms Lok, I will feel shy, uneasy and suddenly become quiet! This is because I’m afraid that I’m not careful and talk too loud or play too crazily! If the reporters see that, I’m afraid that they will write me like as if I’m fighting for something? Moreover, I grew up in housing estate. I like to eat at food stalls and like to feel relaxed during eating.
“I remember there is an actor told me before, [Actually it doesn’t matter. When you have time, try to take a stroll outside producer’s room. If they have stories to film, they will find you!] However, I did not try before as I was too scared! There was only one time when I needed to bring some documents to office and passed by producer’s room but there was no one inside there. How unlucky I am! I know my own abilities. From small until now, I have no fate on that. Before this, all the casts of [Beyond] had dinner together and there was a lucky draw session. Ah Sheh and Mary Hon sat beside me. Both of them won the lucky draw and only I alone that did not win anything. Therefore, I know that I need to depend on myself to get anything that I want. Like this is better as I can have clear conscience of myself….”
Her sister, Griselda Yeung chose a short cut, beauty pageant to enter this field. Now, she is married to King Of Lightbox and has a half year old daughter. Tavia Yeung who is career minded, admitted that she envies her sister but she chooses to work hard in her job and slowly continues to walk. She will leaves to fate regarding love relationship.
This year, Tavia Yeung is 30 years old.
She expressed that she thought of getting married before 30 years old. Now she will not use age to tie herself up. According to her hairstyle, he found out that she has a few strand of white hairs and suggested that she used some times to dye it. Tavia did not mind at all and expressed that she was too busy with her job and will do it next time.
If other actresses, I think they will cry out in fears and ask the hairstylist to help them to cure it. No wonder Tavia Yeung said that the male artistes treat her like buddy and always tap each other’s shoulders. Before this, there were rumours circulated her rumoured rich boyfriend, Lam Wai Kit that he had financial problems and Tavia Yeung still supports him and never leaves him. “We are good friends all these while. But if you ask me, if my boyfriend has problems, will I help him? If it is within my ability, of course I will help. But I will ask him to write a receipt for loan. I think if he is not too bad, after he goes through the difficulties, maybe I can get 1 million if I borrow a hundred thousand!”
Is it have to count like this? “However, [Beyond] taught me the definition of honeyed and hypocritical words. It is hard to fathom a person’s mind and many people will just chooses benefits over morality….. It will be better to play safe.”
Tavia Yeung is faithful and dated rich boyfriend, Lam Wai Kit for a few years. Although he was rumoured that he had financial problems and had other girlfriends, their “good friends” relationship still remain unchanged.

Every year before TVB Anniversary Awards, fighting for awards becomes the hot topic in town. Dinner treats for high level management and changing contracts with awards are no longer trendy. Now, due to the popularity of Beyond The Realm Of Conscience, they came out with a new idea to push “biological daughter” Tavia Yeung to strike back “outsider” Sheren Tang to climb up to the Best Actress throne. This is the first time Tavia enters the competition for this award. Before the airing of [Beyond], she became the hot topic of competitors for Best Actress which is fixed by company. No wonder she appeared calmly and expressed that she supports Sheren Tang!
Tavia Yeung said, “I feel strange too. Before the airing of [Beyond], there were peoples that said that I want to fight for Best Actress. I told them to watch my performance in the series first! Luckily I’m not affected by these topics. I treat myself as an outsider to view this competition. If you ask me I want to receive awards or not, of course I want! Everyone wants to win awards. However, I will not become excited due to their adulation and I will not be disappointed if I lose out. In my opinion, the condition to win awards is the ability being recognized and then only deserves to win.”
“Actually, I’m not prepared and do not have confidence enough to win Best Actress award. I can still make improvements in my acting skills. There are many great actors and actresses in [Beyond] and my performance is just average. It is still not good enough and I still have many spaces for improvements. I really do not have the desire feelings to win awards. Therefore, I will just treat myself as an outsider to watch the competition.”
Watch competition as an outsider, no wild schemes to win Best Actress award
Before Tavia win Best Actress Award, her standing position in annual TVB Lighting Ceremony has represented her triple jumping position. Last time, her position is at the 3rd row without being noticed from everyone. This year, her position is at the 1st row near to the centre of the stage. “Triple (“sam kap” in cantonese) jump? Haha! I’m not category C (also “sam kap” in Cantonese) actress! I’m using step by step method to increase position. I do not have the wild schemes to win awards but I have the enthusiasm to climb up. I can continue to make improvements. The standing position is considered as status in the eyes of media but I feel that even the position of some colleagues is at the back doesn’t mean that they are not hard working. They are also still improving and only the audiences haven’t realized it yet. It is a shallow thinking that standing position represents status. It is according to performance and achievements. This year I’m standing at the front row but maybe I will drop to the back row next year. Is that means that I do not put efforts in my job?”
Tavia Yeung who entered this industry for 10 years stood from the back row to the front row. What are her feelings? “When I stood at the back row, the colleagues would let me stood at a better position as I was not tall enough. From the last row to the front row, I’m still smiling and feel relaxed.”
The results for past 10 years – 60, 70%
Tavia Yeung is the one that works in silence after graduated from training class. She received “Most Improved Actress” in 2003 and received “Best Supporting Actress” last year based on her [Lo Lui] role in Moonlight Resonance. This year, she is fighting for Best Actress Award. As for her results in the past 10 years, she gave herself 60, 70% only. “I cannot give too high marks for myself as I will feel proud and no improvements to be made. For the sake of longer path for me to walk, I will put myself in a lower position. If I over-estimate myself, there will be no spaces for improvements for me.”
Zero rumours and reject sexiness to gain position
Tavia Yeung is a different person from others in entertainment circles. She has no gossips and rumours and sexiness to gain position is not related to her. “Rumours are indeed an easy and attractive ways to gain position. However, today I sit down here and accept your interview is because of my job and not for my rumours. I will not envy to be on newspaper because of rumours. When I read those rumours on the newspaper, I feel lucky that I’m not the main lead of the rumours. As for sexiness, I can accept sexiness that can give surprises to peoples. However, I will not use sexiness to express myself. Sexiness is a common practice. There are artistes that use sexiness to gain position. I believe that actually they want to wear more clothes too.”
Tavia Yeung who insisted on continuing in her own way, however admitted that she needs to compromise sometimes in order to survive in this field. “This is unavoidable. I think my persistence has already given way. This is because I’m an artiste. Other than handing out acting skills, our job is also to entertain audiences. I just have to compromise but hold tightly to my limits. Just like when I entered this industry, I rejected wearing sleeveless and low chest garments. Even my manager said that I was troublesome. Now I’m willing to wear back revealing garments. Is this improvement or compromise?”
Love relationship status is in the position of freedom style
Love relationship is not regular topic of Tavia Yeung. When asked about her love relationship status now, she is in confusion. “I reach 30 years old already. If my life is good, I would have become a mother now! However, the women in the new generation now can build career first and then only develop love relationship. My love relationship status is in the position of freedom style now. I’m not picky. The basic requirements for my other half are having a career, kind-hearted and love my mother. After marriage, we do not necessarily have to stay with my mother. We can be neighbours as we can buy another unit next door……”
There is a rumoured boyfriend of Tavia outside the field, Lam Wai Kit. After being rumoured for a few years, things became complicated. He was rumoured of having financial problems and also rumoured of having another girlfriend. What is her relationship with Lam Wai Kit? She said, “Good friends. We are maintaining good friend relationship. I don’t know our “good’ can maintain until when. Maybe one whole life?!” Tavia Yeung insisted that love relationship is not her selling point. When the time is suitable, she will announce it to everyone. She hopes that she can share the happiness and accept blessings from everyone.
Looks like Maggie Cheung Ho Yee when first entered this industry
Tavia Yeung graduated from TVB 13th Acting Training Class. She went through 2 years with portraying roles without names. That time, Tavia Yeung in the eyes of media was “a newcomer that looks like Maggie Cheung Ho Yee” but they couldn’t recall her name. After the efforts that Tavia put in these 10 years, she has her own personal styles now without depending on anybody. “After that, I collaborated with Maggie Cheung Ho Yee in “The Awakening Story”. We really looked alike that time. She treated me very well.”
Raymond Lam was also graduated from the same training class with Tavia. She said that Lam Fung also suffered before during the time portraying prison officer roles. In the beginning 2 years after entered this industry, Tavia tried out secretary, nun, receptionist and passerby roles. When Gallen Lo received Best Actor award, she was responsible to lead the honoured guest out. As the drama group did not have to pay money for using students from training class, therefore Tavia Yeung accepted many roles without names. She recalled that she enjoyed very much during the first 2 years after she entered this industry. This was because whole bunch of classmates went through everyday happily.
Tavia Yeung is the minority Fa Dan that came out from training class. How come that time joined training class and not beauty pageant? “I cannot wear swimming suit walk here and there on the stage! Only if I was arranged to enter top 3, if not I rather die to wear swimming suit to enter beauty pageant.”
Breathrough in villain role
[Beyond The Realm Of Conscience] brought [Beyond] poisons to audiences. They were chasing on the road of turning devil of Yiu Kam Ling. Golden sentence “I can beat you anytime that I like without picking day!” was created. Tavia Yeung really outstands as a villain role.
“I was longing to try on villain role. When I received [Beyond] script, I already started practicing in front of the mirror. Other than that, I tried to learn from Michelle Yim, Suzanna Kwan and Lau Xiao Qing on how to portray villain role. Their evilness developed from inside and especially the eyes expressions. I chose these types of evilness to develop and of course the external factors like makeup and costumes helped me to express my aggressiveness.” Tavia puts a lot of efforts in portraying Yiu Kam Ling’s role. Tavia said, “No matter the audiences detest me or not when the series airs, I only hope that there were logics in between the evilness and I expressed them naturally. I hope that I could portray Kam Ling’s role as all the evil deeds done were as it should be by rights. My colleagues thought that I had split up personality when they saw me. It means that this is a success.”
In the series, Tavia Yeung would fight against Charmaine Sheh. She did not want to say which scene are the most important parts and highlights of the series. This is because every scene of Tavia Yeung and Charmaine Sheh are important. “The trust that Sam Ho put on Kam Ling was returned with betray. They had deep friendship and the grudge was even deeper. Actually Kam Ling’s role is pitiful. She was lack of love since small so she was longing for love when she grew up. At the end, she saw that Sam Ho received all the love and respects. In order for self protect, she was forced to walk into an unreturned road.” “I hope that [Beyond] can give me a breakthrough in my career road. Producer will dare to choose me in trying out different types of roles. No matter are praises or criticisms from audiences, I will accept everything. Most important is they can view my performances. This is my biggest reward!”

Time passes fast. Tavia Yeung has entered this industry for 10 years. She expressed, “10 years has passed. However this is also a new beginning for me.” Recently TVB is airing Tavia’s series and this role is similar to the road in her career life.
A new start after an end
Tavia Yeung gives us fresh and new feelings with her new hairstyle. “The roles that I portrayed last time were weak and always cry. A new beginning means that I have to change and give audiences new fresh feelings. A few days ago, I cut my hair short and hope to change into a new style. Hope that it will bring out a stylist feel.
10 years ago, Tavia Yeung entered acting training class and tried out many different roles. She gained a lot of experiences from there. “Acting training class is the base of an actor/actress. If I can choose again, I will still choose to enter acting training class as my beginning step. Tavia Yeung slowly climbed up and received “Most Improved Actress” award and “Best Supporting Actress” award. Tavia did not feel proud of gaining awards as she believes that there will be more challenges for her in 10 years and 20 years time.
Filial is most important
After 10 years, it is believed that Tavia Yeung has gained something from her career. She only expressed that she becomes more mature than before. However, she admitted that there are still rooms for improvements in her acting skills. “My life changes during my work in these 10 years. I can give my mother a more comfortable life.” She expressed that the reason that she works hard to earn money is to give her family a more stable life in future. Tavia kept a smiling face when she mentioned her mother and family as if she has forgotten all her busy work recently. “My mother takes care of my life and gives me supports!” As for her father, she said that her father passed away long time ago. Evilness as changes
Recently, TVB is airing Tavia Yeung’s series, Beyond The Realm Of Conscience. The villain role that she portrayed inside the series is different from the weak roles that she portrayed in the past. This might become her new beginning after 10 years. “There were challenges for my first villain role. There were stages in my evilness and therefore, I always practiced eyes expressions before official filming. Hope that eyes expressions can give audiences the evil feelings.” As for the storylines, she did not reveal out and she hopes to bring surprises for audiences.
Other than storyline, many people are discussing whether she can win award based on this role. She said, “I never feel extremely nervous about it. Maybe it is because still early now. However, award is something that we cannot ask for. I just hope that I can do the best for my job as an actress. After build the stable base, then I can take up new challenges. After that, then it is not just in name only but is also in reality.” Tavia was interested to talk more about the series rather than awards. “Last time, the way peoples communicated was simple and straight forward. They could kill peoples because of their own benefits. The society now is still the same but they will use a different method. However, they will still show out the ugliness of a human nature.” Luckily, she said that she has never met these types of peoples before. Maybe she is someone that likes peace and doesn’t like to compete and doesn’t like to involve in gossips. Most important is happy and clear conscience. No wonder she has not much of gossips and rumours in the past 10 years.
Dream House
Tavia Yeung hopes for a simple and comfortable life. “A simple house will do.” She will not emphasize into the design of the house. She just hopes that the house is bright and has warm feelings. White and peach colour design and furniture is her favourite. She expressed, “I cannot separate too far away from my mother. If I get married in the future, I will stay near with my mother and we can take care of each other.”
